Geography
|
 |
Geography is staffed by a team of more than four well qualified graduate teachers. We
pride ourselves on the importance of every child in our care and seek to develop their
potential and skills. We believe in the importance of fieldwork as an experiential
method of learning and support the idea that enquiry based learning is essential for all.
We endeavour to provide a set of courses well suited to the needs of our individual
learners. We follow the National Curriculum at an accelerated pace through KS3 yet still
developing a sense of place and concern for environmental issues.
As a department we have chosen AQA syllabus in GCSE and EDEXCEL for both AS and A2.
Fieldwork involving The National Trust at Coleshill, Honda as a global business, Outdoor
education at Plas Pencelli in the Brecon Beacons, and fieldcourses in Slapton Ley, Devon
and Swanage Dorset are the highlights of our academic year supplemented by local
fieldwork on Flexible Fridays and individual geographical enquiries.
We have co-operative ventures with Maths/Science and the other humanities subjects and
are the driving force behind the Green Team and Duke of Edinburgh provision.
